The housing choice voucher program (Section 8) is the federal government's major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market.  In West Hollywood, Section 8 is administered by the Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA).

In the City of West Hollywood, Section 8 tenancies are governed by the West Hollywood Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO).

Rent Increases

Rent Increases are limited to the City’s Annual General Adjustment (AGA).  The City provides a form to assist Landlords in calculating rents after applying the AGA.  Please download, fill out, and submit the form below to LACDA.  Forms are also available at West Hollywood City Hall, 8300 Santa Monica Boulevard.  Information Line: (323) 848-6450

The LACDA payment standard – the maximum amount a housing authority can pay toward rent – can affect out-of-pocket expenses for Section 8 voucher holders in West Hollywood. If you receive an increase in your monthly family contribution that is above your financial means, there may be supportive services available to assist you.

Portability

Federal and State fair housing laws require that Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) provide reasonable accommodation in their Section 8 rules, policies, practices and services if they are needed to help people with disabilities benefit from the Section 8 program.
